Blue & Orange Dotticure

I was super indecisive about this next mani. I had about 20 different ideas, and in the end after hemming and hawing for a few hours I went with this simple dotticure. I used 2 colors that I really like but haven’t used yet.

I have to say, that persimmon orange polish is crazy beautiful. Out of all the Juleps I’ve received in the past few months, I was most excited about that one. Unfortunately, my box arrived much later than usual and my bottle wasn’t filled to the top. Julep did issue an apology recently about their recent shipping/ order issues and sent out some free points toward polishes/ subscription boxes, so that’s good. But I really haven’t been excited about Julep recently. So I am probably going to cancel it soon (I do have 2 free boxes coming to me, so after that!). I’m thinking about getting a new polish subscription box and haven’t decided between Square Hue, Luxe Lacquer, Rainbow Honey, and Pretty & Polished.

Anyways, enough of that! Back to my mani:

And a close-up of my dotted nail:

Colors used:

  • Base color/ Index finger: Essie Bikini So Teeny
  • Dots/ Pinky: Julep Kirti

I really think my dotting abilities have improved a ton!

What do you think? Are you pro- or anti-Julep? Do you have another polish subscription box of similar pricing to recommend to me? Sound off below!

Holo Humpday: Loaded Lacquer Double Shot of Sriracha

I’ve been on a quest, a noble but difficult quest. I have been searching for the perfect red holo. I’m talking about primary color red, a cherry-ish true red with a strong linear holo. I’ve seen many try and fail over and over again, most leaning pink, blueish-purple, or orange. So I went asking around my trusty polish-themed Facebook groups and came up with some good candidates.

My first candidate is from Loaded Lacquer and is called Double Shot of Sriracha. I was lucky enough to grab this baby up in a restock. It’s from the Sushi Bar Collection. Perfect, because this polish looks like its namesake, Sriracha!

In this quest of mine, unfortunately this lovely doesn’t quite make it. It’s a bit of a coppery/ orange red. Despite that, I’m still loving it! It’s quite stunning. Strong linear holo, and the color is quite pretty! The formula is really nice too – it applies like a jelly but has perfect coverage without visible nail lines in 3 coats.

Here come more pics:

Just look at that holo under direct light! It even looks a little pinkish here too.

Another with a slightly different angle:

I have to say, this is a great polish! If you like red holos that lean a bit coppery-orange, you should definitely get this!

But my quest continues… I’ll keep you updated if I find what I’m looking for! Are you on any polish quests? Do you have my holy grail red holo? Let me know!

Mad Hatter Manicure: August NCC #4

My last NCC manicure for the Tea Party theme is here! I’ve been excited to show you guys this one. I was stumped for this 4th look after doing my lace, flowers, and Lilly designs. But then inspiration hit! I thought about tea parties and a little movie worked its way from deep in my memory… Alice in Wonderland and her crazy tea party with the Mad Hatter!

So here is my Mad Hatter-inspired manicure:

Very busy, but so was my inspiration! Thinking of the Mad Hatter, colorful bold patterns come to mind, so I picked some fun colors and stamps and went to town!

I actually really love this manicure. I wouldn’t wear it to work or anything, but I think coordinating patterns and bold colors looks great!

I taped off half my nail, then painted or stamped the exposed portion, top coated it with a quick dry polish, then taped off the already completed half while stamping the other. Whew, that was wordy!

I also was able to use my Mundo de Unas stamping polishes for the first time! Sylvia makes some really opaque stamping polishes, but unfortunately she’s no longer shipping internationally (she’s in Mexico).

Stuff I used:

  • All nails started with a base of Polish My Life Stripped (amazing white creme)
  • Index finger: Zoya Charisma on the top half (bright purple) stamped with MDU Mexican Pink using Cheeky plate, CH10 (designed after the Cheshire Cat!)
    • Bottom half stamped with Konad Black using Gals plate, GA13
  • Middle finger: bottom half painted with China Glaze In The Lime Light (a goooorgeous neon lime green with a bit of shimmer)
    • Top half stamped with Zoya Charisma using Gals plate, GA15
  • Ring finger: bottom half stamped with KBShimmer Low and Be Bold (an amaaazing jellyish vivid cobalt blue) using Cheeky plate, CH6
    • Top half stamped with Konad Black using Gals plate, GA1
  • Pinky: Top half painted with KBShimmer Low and Be Bold
    • Bottom half stamped with MDU Neon Green using Cheeky plate, CH16

So that’s it for the August Nail Challenge Collaborative! How did you like the tea party theme? I really liked it. Which was your favorite look? I loved my neon stripes & flower and this mad hatter mani.

Check out the other manis:

PS: Whovians out there – did you see the premiere? Do you like Peter Capaldi as the new Doctor? I am devastated because I can’t see the premiere tonight (I have a great concert to go to) AND I don’t have BBC America. I plan on fixing that ASAP, so hopefully I’ll be able to watch the premiere just a bit late. No spoilers, please 😉

Matte Tropical Flower Mani

Today I have a gorgeous stamped manicure for you. Rica recently put out a bunch of great polishes that work both for stamping and regular use, so I obviously had to partake. And if you know anything about my nail polish obsession, I definitely had to have the mint shade!

I was originally going to do a white base, but then I got inspired after looking at some of the gorgeous floral manis by Wondrously Polished. Lindsey does these beautiful mattified floral designs, often over a dark or neutral base. So I decided to pair the pretty mint stamping polish over a dark navy, and then I threw a matte top coat over the whole thing.

I really love this! The color combo is great – the mint pops over the darker navy, and it stamped like a dream. I am obsessed with mint, and this Rica is perfect… I can’t wait to wear it on its own too. I think it also looks really good as a matte mani! And I looove the new MoYou London Tropical images too! So much love!

Products used:

  • Base color: Zoya Sailor (a beautiful deep navy polish)
  • Stamping plate: MoYou London Tropical 04
  • Stamping color: Rica Summer Mint

So yeah, I really like this, and I hope you do too!  I can’t wait to try out the other new Rica polishes. That is all for today – have a great weekend!

Holo Humpday: ILNP Kings & Queens

Guys, 3 holo humpdays in a row – I’m on a roll here! So here comes another Wednesday, and another gorgeous holo polish for you to drool over. 🙂 If you missed the first two, please go check them out because those polishes are to die for. They can be found here and here.

Today’s featured holo is… can you guess which brand? I Love Nail Polish (duh!)! Today I’m wearing Kings & Queens. I can’t get enough ILNP polish! Sidenote – Barbra just opened up the pre-order for the Fall collection this past Friday, and I definitely made my wallet a little thinner that day. I purchased Iconic, Black Orchid, Champagne Blush, and Atomic Sherbet. All of those are, of course, HOLOS! So I’m going to have products for many more Holo Humpdays to come. 🙂

Ugh, this so disgustingly beautiful. Kings & Queens has one of the stronger linear holographic effects I’ve seen for ILNP – it really looks like a flame in pictures! Aaaand this is inside! Just imagine what it looks like outside (unfortunately you are forced to imagine because the sun has refused to make an appearance for my pics… eff you, clouds!).

Here’s a slightly closer look:

Kings & Queens is like a raspberry wine color. It smacks you across the face with the holo too!

And here is the macro (are you ready for this?):

BAM! Look at that linear holo! Ridiculous!

So that’s my yummy holo for today. Did you get any beauties in the ILNP pre-order? Also, what do you think about my Holo Humpday? Should I keep going?

Neon stripes and roses: August NCC #3

Here comes manicure #3 for August’s NCC theme of Tea Party! For this one, I decided to basically recreate a recent favorite of mine – stripes and flowers. I imagine an outside tea party in a garden with a trellis of vines and flowers. Since I’m obsessed with neon, I also used my recent Models Own purchase.

neon green white roses stripes flowers manicure

Gorgeous right?? I love this type of manicure. Paulina’s Passions does it perfectly, and I just plain strive to make my flower nails like hers!

This manicure was actually from awhile ago… I had it on my nails when the August theme was announced, and I knew it’d be perfect for the tea party theme!

Polishes used:

  • Pinky, thumb, and neon stripes: Models Own Flip Flop
  • Base color: Rica Whiteout
  • Roses: Orly Frolic (bright orchid purple), OPI Vant to Bite my Neck? (dark purple accent), Illamasqua Collide (sheer neon pink to brighten the roses up)
  • Leaves: Revlon Posh

What do you think? Do you wear neons year-round or just in the warmer months? I think I want to wear neons forever 🙂

Colorful Chevron Manicure

I believe I’ve told everyone how much I heart indie polishes. Another favorite brands of mine is KBShimmer, made by Christy Rose. She has such a great creative mind when it comes to crelly glitter bombs, and her creme polishes are to die for!

KBShimmer recently put out a 6th anniversary set of 3 polishes, the Beach Trio. I picked up Beach Please (looove that name), and I also grabbed some of her new vinyls. I bought the single chevron vinyls, and my package came with a free sampling of her zig zag vinyls!

So I wanted to use those babies:

In the past, I’ve used the nail vinyls from Nail Vinyls (aka @teismom on instagram), and I loved them so much! I think I actually like KBShimmer’s chevrons better! That really surprised me. I think they pull up a bit easier. But you can’t go wrong with either brand!

Here’s another pic showing the bottle of Beach Please:

Just look at that bright color! Beach Please is an amazing crelly fuschia that applies like a dream. I used 3 coats of this pinkish purplish polish (say that 3 times fast!). The blue holo is A England Tristam, a gorgeous scattered holo that’s super opaque.

And here’s a close up of my ring finger:

I love this look! Super simple to do, and the colors are so pretty.

Do you use nail vinyls? If so, what’s your favorite kind?
