I have finally gotten into the Fall spirit! I’m a big supporter of wearing whatever shade/ color nail polish you want whenever you want. And I still will totally rock a neon or bright color even in the dark of winter. BUT I have really been gravitating towards the more muted, darker colors of fall now. Maybe it’s because many of the new Fall collections are continuing to arrive on my doorstep!
Anyways, today I have a very Fall-appropriate manicure for you. October’s Nail Challenge Collaborative theme is Stripes! I wanted to use this month to try techniques I haven’t done before or practice others I’m not so great at. So first up is my “messy striped manicure” using a previously untried technique – fanbrush!
I’m now kind of sad that I haven’t done this before! It was soooo easy! And it’s one of those types of nail art that is ok if it’s messy (my favorite type 😉 ). It kind of reminds me of camouflage.
I used:
- Base Color – Revlon Spanish Moss… a gorgeous opaque olive green. I bought this last year and have really loved this color so much!
- Top Color – KBShimmer Stonewashed… From the new Fall 2014 collection, this is a stunning greyed-out navy blue. I’m loving all the muted dusty shades this fall.
What do you think? Does this remind you of camouflage as well? Do you like fanbrush manis?
Check out all the other striped manicures from the NCC ladies:
Love this! Totally does look camo and a but like a muted distorted globe! Very cool and makes me wanna do another fanbrush mani! It’s been forever.
Thanks! YES – it totally reminds me of a distorted globe too!

Oh, this is neat! I like it! I like the color combo, too. I need to try the fan brush technique!
Thank you! Yes, try it – it’s super super easy!
I love using the fan brush to do deigns like this. Great color choices in here!
Thanks! I really need to do it again – I’m brainstorming other color combos already 🙂
I’ve never tried out the fanbrush technique yet but now I think I need to! These colors look gorgeous together!
Thank you! Oh you definitely should- I’m already excited to do it again sometime 🙂
I love both shades you used! Those dusty colours are so “me” when the colder season arrives! And you did great with the fanbrush technique. I attemped it a couple times and what I got was just an awful mess 😦
Thanks so much! I really am so into the dusty shades right now too! I found that I got cleaner lines when I manually separated the bristles every now and again and just lightly brushed it over the nail.
Wow, I love this! The colors you used are awesome together and I really like how the stripes turned out. I think I need to try this soon!
Thank you!! You really should – it’s so easy and fun!
That KBShimmer polish is sooo lovely 🙂
Thanks! It’s one of my favorites from the fall collection!
It does kind of look like camo! Looks really great! Nice job.
Thank you 🙂
I love fanbrush manis – this is super pretty!
Thank you so much 🙂 I can’t wait to do more of them!
LOVE! I used fan brush for something similar too and really loved it. I think I need to do it again 🙂
Thank you! I totally need to do it again too!
I have been enjoying your nail art recently and really appreciate you detailing the technique you have used. For example on this nail I thought the colors were in opposite order. I will try this technique immediately. The results are fantastic. And yes, it does resemble camo.
Thanks so much! I’m glad you’ve been enjoying my manis 🙂
It does look a little like camo! I too like to wear what ever color I feel like wearing at the time no matter the season, and up until last year I wasn’t a big fan of the darker vampy colors. But now I happily rock them in the colder months.
I almost go more on my nail length for what shade to wear! I looove vampy dark colors when I have nubbins and brighter ones when my nails are longer.
I totally get a camo vibe from this! It’s beautiful! Love the color combo!
Thanks so much! I kept it on for awhile cause I loved it so much 🙂
I really like this! I even HAVE a fan brush but haven’t tried this yet!
Thank you! You should totally try it – it’s really fun 🙂
Love it! Welcome, fall! 🙂
Thanks 🙂
Camouflage…. yeah, very interesting ❤
Haha thanks 😉
