For my 3rd striped look of October, I decided to do another previously untried technique – splatter! It’s always seemed like more work than fun and when I tried a long time ago, I couldn’t get the polish to even splatter from the straw. {Insert juvenile joke about blowing harder here 😉 } Since I’m now an older and wiser nail blogger, I figured it was time to try it again!
I debated on exactly how to accomplish this end product – throw some decals down and splatter over it or splatter, then stamp stripes. I ended up doing the latter because I thought it would take too much time splattering over the decals, which would make the thinned out polish dry and peel up. But anyways, I’d like to attempt that way as well!
I think this method worked out pretty well nonetheless, and I really like how it came out! I used a very similar color scheme as my last manicure (the dry marble swirl mani) because I think it looks almost like an abstract spring floral design.
I also got to break out my very first Pixie Dust from Zoya! I had been resisting that purchase because I have never really gotten into textures. But Zoya had such a great sale recently where you could get 3 free polishes and the Remove+, so I thought I’d finally try it out. I have to say – I love them! They’re not too textured that it’ll catch on everything, but they still show off a really cool visual difference between the other glossy nails. I still don’t think I’d wear them as a full mani, but I do like them as an accent!
What I used:
- Splatter nails:
- Base color: Zoya Purity… this is definitely not my favorite white polish, but I wanted to still give it some love. It’s ok, it’s just not the best.
- Zoya Hunter… a great dark hunter green
- China Glaze Rose Among Thorns… a very pretty red/pink-leaning fuchsia
- Polish My Life Greenwich Street… a very nice pastel kelly green
- Stamping plate: Bundle Monster BM-411
- Stamping polish: Rica Whiteout – now THIS is my favorite white polish 🙂
- Accent nail: Zoya Chita… a gorgeous hunter green textured polish
So what do you think? Do you like the combination of splatter and stripes? Are you a textured polish fan?
Check out the other striped manicures from the NCC ladies:
These look great! I like the colors in it a lot.
Thank you!! I think with splattering, it looks less Christmassy with the green/white/pinkish red!
I love this combination! A really different manicure!
Xoxo
Thank you so much! I love stamping over a different technique 🙂
At first glance I thought this was dry brished, great job on the splattering.
Thank you!! Dry brushing would look great under stripes too!
YOU NAUGHTY GIRL!! LMAO! I’m totally loving this look though, from a distance, it kind of looks like floral patterned wall paper!! Oh and you totes need more Pixie Dusts in your life.
Hehe… my sense of humor is the same as a pubescent teenage boy 😉
I was so surprised about how much I like the PixieDust! I got Carter too, and it’s soooo pretty!
This is really unique, I love the stripes!! At first glance I thought it was floral too, haha!
Thanks!! I think it’s the color combo that reminds me of a floral pattern 🙂
I would have never recognised the splatter there if you hadn’t mentioned it! Those coloured things underneath the striped totally looked like antique flowers to me. I thought they were decals!
Decals? Cool – I love when people think my manis are decals 🙂 Thanks!
I LOVE this! The colours, the design, it all comes together perfectly!
Thank you so much 🙂 I want to do this kind of mani again since I liked it so much too!
Oooh hey now! This is so neat! I love the accent nail you did. It gave the whole mani some “texture” so it wasn’t uber feminine. Beautiful work!
Thank you so much! I love contrasting aspects of manis, whether it be colors, textures, or finishes 🙂
I adore this! It reminds me of an abstract floral garden behind a white picket fence. It’s beautiful!
Aww thank you so much!! I like that – an abstract picket fence!
I love how the splatter look like abstract floral behind the stripes! Ah there, Jenny also thought the same! Great job! 🙂
That’s definitely what came to mind for me too! Abstract floral & stripes 🙂 Thanks!!
I love this mani! It is so so pretty! The mix & match takes it to another level. 🙂
Thank you so much! I like a good mix & match 🙂
Very cool mani! I’ve been meaning to try a splatter design!
Thanks – you should defintiely try it! So messy but fun!
Very pretty! I love the accent nail to go with it too!
Thanks!! I really am liking thise Pixie Dusts!
This is so pretty, hon!
And when I first looked at it, the splatter behind the stripes made me think of old-fashioned fabric, one that would cover a sofa in the 80s 🙂
Thanks lady!! Haha – I can definitely see vintage 70s-80s fabric! 🙂
This are so pretty! I never would have thought to add stripes over the splatter, that’s such a cool idea. I thought the splatters were flowers when I first saw these haha!
Thank you so much!! I really like mixing techniques.
cool idea to layer the techniques!
Thanks! 🙂
This look makes me so happy. Like a beautiful French garden…sigh…:)
Awww I’m so glad! I think it looks floral too!
