Holo Humpday: Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer If You’re A Seascape

Hello sweeties and happy New Years Eve! Any fun plans? I wrote this post in advance because right now, I’m in VA visiting friends and family! It’s so nice to leave the cold PA weather and be near the water again. Anyways, today I have a beautiful rosy pink holo for you from Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer. This polish was provided to me for review, but I’ll always be honest with you!

Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer If You're A Seascape

This beautiful polish is from BEGL’s Far From The Sun collection, which was released back in July. It’s a rosy coral pink with some red and gold shimmer and a subtle linear holo effect. I can’t wait to wear this when it’s actually sunny out because I think it’ll really pick up the shimmer and holo then.

BEGL If You're A Seascape

BEGL If You’re A Seascape

This polish is so much prettier on the nails than in the bottle! I was worried at first that it was going to be one of those rosy almost old-lady colors, but it SO ISN’T! It’s just stunning on the nails. It’s girly with a modern twist!

Here’s a closeup:

This is another beauty by one of my favorite indie polish brands! Julie from BEGL just has never done me wrong! If you like pink holos, this is such a beautiful classy version. Very work appropriate too!

Textured Bling Spirals: December’s NCC #4

Hello there sweeties! I hope the post-Christmas blues have avoided everyone. I’m on vacation until after New Years, and I’m about to take a trip to see some friends and family so I’m just plain excited! I’m trying to think of possible manis for New Years, and the main thing that comes to mind was BLING. Bling always is appropriate for a New Years mani! So this is my dotted version of a blingy New Years mani!

My textured blingy dotticure

So I intended to have dotted spirals on my index & middle fingers, but it doesn’t quite look that way at first glance. I think it’s because the dots are too far apart – maybe they’d actually look like spirals if the dots of one color were closer to each other. But I think it still came out alright!

I knew I wanted to use more of my new PixieDusts for this mani because they’re so pretty and blingy too! And I like how it gives the dots a bit more dimension on top of the gold.

Polishes used:

  • Index and middle fingers:
    • Base color – Orly Luxe… this is a super sparkly gold that is so perfect for a NYE mani! On its own, it’s a bit brush stroke-y… but I love it as a base for other things or for nail art.
    • Dots: Zoya Liberty (gorgeous cobalt blue PixieDust) and Julep Cleopatra (matte/ satin finish black)
  • Ring finger: Zoya Liberty… LOVE this PixieDust! The color is amazing, the texture is perfect, and the formula is perfect! I could see this being perfect for an ocean mani.
  • Pinky: Zoya Dahlia… this is the black PixieDust. So gorgeous! It comes out looking a little more charcoal grey because of the silver sparkle, but I still love this 🙂

What’s going to be on your nails for New Years? Are you going to go bling-tastic like me? What are your plans for NYE?

A Post-Christmas Christmas Manicure

I hope everyone who celebrates had a great Christmas yesterday, and I hope your day was filled with happiness and love! I’m still feeling festive, so I decided that I want to show you another Christmassy mani.

Christmas skittlette mani

I wasn’t exactly sure what I was going to end up with when I started this mani, but I’m pretty happy with the results! I picked a bunch of new festive polishes and threw this baby together.

Another pic of my Christmassy mani!

I had seen somewhere on the interwebs that Zoya was discontinuing their PixieDusts, so I picked up a ton of the original formula (those are my favorite!). That was such a surprise to me since Zoya puts out so many Pixies and they’re really popular. Were you/ are you as surprised as me? But anyways, I wanted to utilize one of my new Pixies – I think Tomoko is such a perfect festive polish, so I had to use it for this mani.

Products used:

  • Index and middle fingers:
    • Base color: Zoya Veruschka… my favorite of the Matte Velvets – it’s this beautiful emerald green with subtle silvery gold shimmer
    • Top color: Indigo Bananas Enchanted Lake… this is like the emerald version of Acid Ocean (see my blog post featuring it here), a beautiful dark green jelly with orangey and green flakies. It’s so pretty!
  • Ring finger:
    • Base color: Zoya Veruschka
    • Chevron nail vinyls… I got these particular ones from Nail Vinyls
    • Top color: Zoya Tomoko… a beautiful off-white golden textured polish. This is a gorgeous original PixieDust!
  • Pinky: KBShimmer Whole Lava Lovin’… I got this beauty as a gift, and I love it! It’s such a great pink-leaning red holo. It had been on my wishlist for awhile, and I’m so happy to finally own it! Thanks to Brigitte from Color Me So Crazy for hooking me up with this baby! 🙂

What do you think? Do you wear festive manis after the actual holiday itself? How was your Christmas – what did everyone get?

Happy belated holidays!

Holo Humpday: Colors by Llarowe Gemini Rising

Just a quick post today since it’s Christmas Eve and I just worked for the last 30 hours straight! I got to hang out with the mini humans, and one of our older doctors visited each room dressed up as Santa – so adorable! I really want to just go to sleep, but I couldn’t miss out on a Holo Humpday!

Today’s featured holographic nail polish is Gemini Rising by Colors by Llarowe. It’s a gorgeous vivid grass green that makes me want to drink a sour apple martini.

Isn’t that pretty? Such a strong holo! It’s a nice and easy formula, but I have heard it’s a bad stainer. This is the first time I’m wearing it and I haven’t taken it off yet, so we’ll see about that one.

Anyways, I thought it was a good color for Christmas too!

Big fan of this polish! And now it’s time for this sleepy lady to go to bed!

What do you think? What’s on your nails for Christmas?

Nighttime Snowman Manicure: December’s NCC #3

Hello sweeties! I’m so pleased with today’s mani – I hope you like it as much as I do! I’ve been slow in getting into the holiday spirit this year, but since company is arriving today I figured it was high time to decorate the house. And I’ve decorated my nails festively as well!

My little snowman against a night sky!

My little snowman against a night sky!

And I thought this was perfect as my third look for the dotticure NCC theme! I wanted to do a sparkly snowy scene, and a snowman was a perfect addition to the scene! Isn’t that blue a perfect polish for a nighttime sky look?! I just love it 🙂

Polishes used:

  • Base color: Zoya Dream… this is one of my all-time favorite Zoyas! It’s a perfect scattered holo blue that just has so much depth! Love!
  • Snow: Rica Whiteout… my favorite opaque white polish!
  • Snowman buttons: Rica Blackout… my favorite opaque black polish 🙂
  • Snowman nose: Orly Tropical Pop… a neon tangerine orange polish
  • Snow topping: China Glaze Fairy Dust… how can you not love a sparkly topper to snow?!

I’m loving this festive mani! What do you think? How are you preparing for the holidays? Have you procrastinated as much as I have? I hope I’m not the only lazy butt out here!

Holiday stamping using latex body paint!

Latex body paint: kinky? Or a great nail art product? I had seen so many people using tape, Elmer’s glue, Vaseline, and Liquid Palisade to help in nail cleanup. I tried Vaseline, but it was too messy for my liking. I use tape for water marbling, but you can’t get tape to hug the nail shape perfectly. I haven’t tried the other two, but Liquid Palisade always intrigued me. However, I didn’t want to spend that much money (it’s $22 for an itty bitty tube!) when I could easily clean up with some acetone.

And then last month, I caught a video on YouTube by elleanddish that was possibly going to change my cleanup! She tried out liquid latex body paint and it looked amazing, so I had to try it out! I bought Liquid Latex Fashions Body Paint in Neon Blue for only $6.50, and used an old crappy nail art brush to apply it after putting my base color on.

Here’s what it looks like while drying (quick shot from my iPhone):

Latex Body Paint for Nail Cleanup

Latex Body Paint for Nail Cleanup

After putting my base color on, I stamped the images on and peeled the latex off. It worked perfectly!! I had no polish to clean up and it was super easy! Plus it’s fun to peel off 🙂

The only issue was that my nail art brush was kind of ruined:

liquid latex fashions body paint neon blue, orly shimmery mauve, nail stamping cleanup, liquid palisade dupe, nail art brush

See all that latex stuck in the bristles?

But if I use the brush only for this application, it shouldn’t be an issue!

OK, so let’s finally show you some nail art huh?

Red and gold holiday stamped manicure

So the image on my index finger is a bit uneven. The reason is that that particular image was real fickle in getting picked up by the stamper. So when it finally picked up, I got super excited and hastily stamped without really paying attention to how even it was.

Otherwise, I love this! I love red and gold together, and I hadn’t worn this particular red polish (Orly Shimmering Mauve) yet! I’ve owned it for almost 2 years and have never found a good use for it. It does show brushstrokes pretty heavily since it has a metallic chrome finish, but since I was stamping over it I wasn’t too concerned with that.

Products used:

  • Base color: Orly Shimmering Mauve… a chrome-finish red with pinky-gold shimmer. It kind of reminds me of Marsala (the new Pantone color for 2015). I can’t say I’m a huge fan of Marsala, but I’m warming up to it slowly. KBShimmer is starting to show swatches of a new release for January that has a GORGEOUS version of Marsala holo.
  • Stamping plate: Winstonia W120
  • Stamping polish: Essie Good as Gold
  • Liquid Latex Fashions Body Paint in Neon Blue… as the name implies, this product most certainly contains latex. So if you’re allergic to latex, don’t put latex on yourself. 😉

What do you think? Do you like the Marsala color? What’s your go-to cleanup product? Would you try latex body paint for your nails?

Holo Humpday: Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer The Innuendo Squad

Hola! Today I’m bringing you a beautiful holo that I have been dying to wear ever since I saw the first preview swatch. It’s from my all-time favorite ginormous collection by Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer, The It Got Away From Me, Yeah… collection. This beauty is from the subset, The Gents of Doctor Who, and is based on the gorgeous man-candy Captain Jack Harkness (his eyes are blue blue blue!). His character can be summed up by the following meme (found on Fanpop):

Nipples!

Nipples! John Barrowman aka Captain Jack Harkness nipples!!

Phew! Pretty man right? A nail polish based on this guy HAS to be beautiful! And it is, it really is. This is The Innuendo Squad by BEGL, and it’s an amazing icy blue holo.

Stun-NING!! The Innuendo Squad is a light blue with silver shimmer and a nice linear holo flare. Perfect formula, and a perfect color for winter too! Oh!! And last night was the first night of Hanukkah, and blue is festively appropriate! So many exclamation points because I’m so excited!!

Here’s a closeup:

What do you think? Do you love this collection as much as I do? Which ones have you picked up?
