Simple mani with a dotted accent nail

Hello sweeties! It’s Friday, woo hoo! I just got back from my vacation to SC yesterday, and I totally wish I was still there. It was so gorgeous down there, we got to see friends and family, AND we found a place to live! So it was a win all around! And now I only have to work one day, and then it’s the weekend.

Anyways, I wanted to show you the manicure I wore while on vacation! I wanted something bright and cheerful, yet still tame enough to ease my future coworkers into my nail obsession. So here’s what I chose:

Simple dotted manicure

I really liked this one! It’s simple but with a little extra.

Blue dotticure

It’s bright and cheery, but I think the monochrome dots in a lighter shade keeps it simple. My gut said “Make it holo or neon or multiple different colors!” But like I said earlier, I was going to meet up with my future coworkers. So I wanted to ease them into the nail art lifestyle I lead! čśë

Polishes used:

  • Base color: China Glaze UV Meant To Be… Another one of the amazing Electric Nights! This one had a perfect formula (that slight uneven texture you see is actually from the top coat I used – Seche Vite). And the color is great!
  • Dots: Essie Mint Candy Apple… Such a gorgeous light blue with some aqua tones!

What do you think? What’s your go-to simple nail art look?

Tartan manicure: March’s NCC #3

Hello my sweeties!! And a happy Monday to y’all! Tomorrow is St. Patrick’s Day, so this week I wanted to do manis accordingly. Not truly festive, but festive-ish (so not a word, but shhhh). To combine that and┬áthe March Challenge theme of fashion, I decided to try out a tartan pattern on my nails. Yes I know tartan patterns are Scottish, not Irish. But people totally wear kilts in St. Paddy’s Day parades, so it’s kosher (how many cultural groups can I reference?!).

I did this really quickly, but I love how it came out! I’m usually pretty awful with freehand lines, but these were better than my usual. Obviously they’re not perfect, but I’m improving slowly! čÖé I was considering doing a full mani with every nail plaid, but I think I like it better this way.

These remind me of a cozy flannel or fleece plaid blanket. I just want to grab a cup of coffee or hot chocolate with this mani! This would be a good for fall, winter, or Christmas. Plaid really goes well with everything.

Polishes used:

  • Accent nail: piCture pOlish Badass… This is a┬ácharcoal grey “bijou” holo. I don’t really know what bijou means (I guess I could consult Dr. Google very easily, but I’m feeling lazy), but this polish is a subtle scattered holo and is gorgeous. This is one of PP’s blogger collabs and is one of my favorites! Simple but beautiful!
  • Tartan nails:
    • Base color: Zoya Sookie… Ugh, this is the kind of perfect red nail polish that makes me utter orgasmic noises when I put it on lol! It’s such a stunning cherry red creme with a perfect formula.
    • I painted on a hashmark design with OPI Malaga Wine, a beautiful burgundy creme.
    • I then painted the overlapping squares with Rica Blackout, the perfectly opaque black creme that works amazingly in nail art and stamping.
    • Accent stripes of Essie Good As Gold… the best metallic chrome gold ever! It’s easily opaque, so it’s perfect for nail art and stamping.

And now for your daily David Tennant! He’s Scottish, so it’s appropriate for this mani (and appropriate for anytime you want to look at something pretty).

Yummy yummy

What do you think? Have you done tartan or plaid┬ámanis before? Any fun plans for St. Patrick’s Day?

Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Newly Impassioned Soul in a Girly Wallpaper design: January NCC #3

Hello sweeties!! Today I have two things to share with you – another gorgeous Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer polish, and my third wallpaper look for January’s Nail Challenge Collaborative. Julie from BEGL sent me this beautiful pink polish from her My Indecisive Valentine collection for review, and it’s called Newly Impassioned Soul. I put this baby on and immediately thought it’d be the perfect base for a girly wallpaper design!

NIS is this baby pink yet still almost neon crelly with loads of iridescent microflakies. It almost leans a bit more jelly than crelly – I used three coats and still had some visible nail line. If I was wearing this alone I would throw a 4th coat on for opacity, but I was planning on stamping over it so I left it at three.

Isn’t it beautiful? So girly and feminine with a little bit of modern edge from the flakies! My camera freaked out at how pretty it is too.

See those flakies? Love! This is the kind of color that could be all over a little girls’ bedroom decor, so I decided it would be perfect for my Girly Wallpaper Mani!

What better to adorn a little girls’ walls than flowers/ roses? I really like how this came out! I was originally going to use a lace image to stamp with, but it covered the pink way too much. And flowers are quintessentially girly!

Growing up I would have died if this was in my room – I was far from a girly girl. But I could totally see this in some chic and girly girl’s room!

Products used:

  • Base color: BEGL Newly Impassioned Soul
  • Stamping plates:
    • Pinky & Ring finger: Konad m65
    • Middle & Index fingers: Shany SH208
  • Stamping polish: Rica Whiteout… amazing opaque white creme!

What do you think? Does this look like wallpaper you’d have in your room growing up? Do you like this BEGL?

Oh! Before I forget – Newly Impassioned Soul is on sale on BEGL’s site! So if you like it, go pick it up!

Jack Skellington Manicure: October’s NCC #4

Happy Halloween week! Today, just for you, I have my first Halloween-themed nail art manicure! I have seen a TON of Jack Skellington manis and I just adore The Nightmare Before Christmas, so I wanted to recreate that look. I think I first saw it somewhere on Pinterest, but I honestly don’t remember the original source. ┬áBut I loved the mani from the first time I saw it, aaaand it fits in perfectly with October’s NCC theme of stripes!

This is Halloween, this is Halloween!

This is Halloween, this is Halloween!

I just realized that I forgot to paint in Jack’s little skeleton nose! Oops! But I think it still looks like him, don’t you? Even if it doesn’t 100% look like him, it still looks like a skeleton face.

I also realized while I was cropping these pics, my cuticles and fingers are RAGGED. Gross! I’m sorry for subjecting you to that! I went to my college homecoming weekend (my 9 year reunion and my husband’s 10th!), and we had a few bonfires and other shenanigans that weren’t terribly kind on my fingers. Plus I forgot all my nourishing cuticle/ hand products! So anyways, forgive me! I’m going to put my hands in beauty boot camp and they’ll be pretty again soon.

For this mani, I used my amazing Rica Blackout & Whiteout with some nail vinyls and nail art brushes. I know I say it all the time, but I love love love Rica’s Whiteout & Blackout!! They are the best quality white and black polishes I’ve found – super duper opaque and creamy and perfect for stamping.

So what do you think? What’s your mani plan for Halloween? I have a few more looks this week for your Halloween-loving eyes!

Essie and Color Club swatch

My recent amazon purchase came in the mail the other day. I bought the Color Club Holographic Hues collection; 6 gorgeous holographic polishes in lighter shades. I’ve been dying to try them out! A full holographic manicure might have been too distracting for my ADD self, so I just did a simple manicure with an accent nail. Aaaand I’m in love.Image

Simple Halloween manicure

I’ve seen a lot of amazing Halloween-themed manicures out there and I obviously wanted to join in. I had lots of ideas, most of which were super busy and involved a million colors/ sparkles/ stamps/ etc. Not much actually worked out in reality… wah waaah (sad trombone sound).

I did, however, do a really fun simple manicure with water marbling and dotting.
