I wanted to share an older manicure I did about a month ago. Please forgive the poor photography – I’m still improving!
I was inspired by the beautiful flowers that Paulina’s Passions is famous for. She did a gorgeous mani called her Nautical Rose Mani, where she had horizontal navy blue and white stripes and pink roses as accents. I had to try it!
The CLAW! (Does anyone else think about Toy Story whenever they do the claw pose? I know I do 🙂 )
I decided to do vertical stripes instead because my nails were a bit shorter and I didn’t want them to look wide and stubby. I think the vertical stripes elongate them a bit.
Here’s how I did it:
Base color of L’Oreal Jet Set to Paris, a much older polish of mine that is a really pretty darker blue creme
Stripes with Zoya Purity
Then I blobbed on slightly irregular dots of Essie Boom Boom Room (the light Barbie pink)
Then I used a small striper to draw little swirly lines of a darker pink, L’Oreal Check Me Out (a more fuschia pink)
Then I drew on small leaves with a small dotting tool using Revlon Posh (a crayola true green)
I really loved this manicure! Wish my pics were better, but hey I’m working on that! What do you think of my first attempt at roses over stripes?
I was lucky enough to be sent 3 brand new creations from a local nail polish creator, Melissa of Lacquer by Lissa. She’s an amazingly creative woman who is located right here in Pittsburgh. By day, she’s a chocolatier (ummm, can you say amazing job?!), and by night she’s a superhero! JK, she also uses her creativity to make beautiful nail polish.
She just released her Spring 2014 Collection, which is an array of gorgeousness. She also is now selling vinyl nail decals, which are supercute. Some adorable bunny decals were included in my package, which made my day happy.
Here’s the packaging:
How appropriate for spring, right? It was like an early Easter basket with nail polish instead of candy! So much better for you 🙂
Happy belated Valentine’s Day everyone! I’m not the biggest fan of this “holiday” because of all the commercialism, but I do enjoy any reason to celebrate love! Plus my birthday is Monday, so I’d much rather celebrate my birthday than VDay. The husband and I used it as another good excuse for a fun date night – had some yummy seafood and then went to go see Frozen (super cute movie if you haven’t seen it!).
And of course I had to have something VDay-related on my nails. I’ve been seeing a lot of cutout gradient designs, so I figured I’d try it with hearts!
You see why I titled my post like that now? The silver reminds me of tinfoil… tinfoil, tin, tin man, hearts for the Tin Man! Free association people!
