Coral and Fuchsia Skittlette Manicure

Hello my sweeties! Are you excited for spring and warmer weather? I SOOO am! I need some sunshine in my life again soon! So while the PA weather gods won’t give me real sunshine yet, I need some brightness on my nails!

I saw this amazing swatch video from jessFACE90 on YouTube on the new China Glaze Electric Nights collection, and I got so excited!! Like Jessie Spano on caffeine pills excited:

Jessie Spano i'm So Excited saved by the bell

She’s so… scared! 😉

I had been drooling over the extremely hard to find PipeDream A Night In Vegas neon cremes and after seeing that swatch video, I was really hopeful that the Electric Nights cremes would satisfy my neon craving. I realized I have gaps in my collection when it comes to neons. So I decided I needed to pick up a few of the Electric Nights polishes – specifically the purples, the pink, the red-orange coral, and one of the blues!

So obviously I needed to use the neon I was anticipating the most – the fuchsia purple neon!

My coral and fuchsia skittlette

My coral and fuchsia skittlette

This is what I came up with – another little mishmash mani! I love how coral and fuchsia go together! Especially when they’re as bright as pretty as these two!

I have to say, I adore the color of this China Glaze neon! But I don’t think that they’re a replacement for the PipeDreams – from everything I’ve seen and read about those, they have such a perfect pigmented formula. The formula on this particular polish was a little runny. It does get opaque in 2 coats (without a white base), but the polish tends to slide towards the sides of the nail a little bit. I think a 3rd coat would fix that issue.

And, ahem… do you see the pinky nail?! That topper is divine! It’s one of I Love Nail Polish‘s new holographic multichrome flakies. AND I was able to get some good photos of that little sucker!

BOOM baby! I got it! I may have wished on a star, stood on my head, and sacrificed a virgin… but I finally got a good picture of the multichrome flakie! It shows off the gorgeous shift from pink/purple to gold and green, AND you can see how much depth the scattered holo gives it! Yay!

Polishes used:

  • Base color for all nails: China Glaze Violet Vibes… as described above. Hopefully the formula of the others I bought are a little better. But I’ve most definitely come across worse neon formulas for sure! Oh, and since I hadn’t seen this collection in stores yet, I bought mine on Head2Toe Beauty.
  • Index finger (and thumb):
    • Topped with ILNP Neon Rosebud (holo version)… check out the closeup shot above to see just one coat of this beauty! The holo in the flakie topper does give the base polish you use a bit of a silvery tinge. But only a little bit.
  • Middle finger:
    • Dots of Polish My Life Coral Fedora… this is a gorgeous pink-leaning coral that’s a very bright pastel. The formula on this is perfection! I have yet to come across a bad Polish My Life pastel. They all have amazing formulas and are so pretty!
  • Ring finger:
    • I used a chevron vinyl from NailVinyls.
    • Topped with Polish My Life Coral Fedora

What do you think? Do you have the PipeDream neons? Or do you know of dupes?

Aqua flakie skittlette

Hello sweeties and happy Friday! If you have read my blog pretty much at all, I’m sure you know I luuuurrve I Love Nail Polish. It was my first indie brand, and I am a loyal fan of pretty much everything Barbra puts out! When the multichrome flakies were released, I went all grabby hands and got pretty much every single one (I won 6 in an instagram giveaway, aaaand then I bought 6 more lol). I haven’t featured them on my blog a lot because I have such difficulty photographing them! They’re like little shifty ninja polishes!

Like these ninjas:

Get it? hehe

Get it? hehe

Yeah, the multichrome flakies want to show up about as well as the ninjas at their parade!

Anyways, I wanted to use one of the flakies for this manicure and decided to pair it with more springy colors. And then I freehanded some odd spiky flowers on top!

I kind of just started doodling with those flowers – they weren’t supposed to look like anything in particular. I do like how the middle finger came out!

Another pic of this mani

I tried and tried to get a good picture of how great I Love Nail Polish Supernova looks on the nail, but it was just so shy and didn’t want to play. It was totally gorgeous in real life though!

Supernova was even shy for her closeup too! These pics don’t do it justice at all. So here’s a bottle shot:

ILNP Supernova bottle shot

I mean right?! Look at all that shiftiness! It totally looked like that on the nail in real life, and I really loved it over that KBShimmer aqua. In the past I’ve paired the ILNP flakies over darker colors, but I really like it over this bright pastel aqua!

Polishes used:

  • Index & middle fingers:
    • Base color: KBShimmer Eyes White Open… I still totally want to call this Eggs White Open – no idea why! And this time I’m not hungry haha! The more I use this, the more I love it! It’s such a great white creme.
    • I then freehanded those odd spiky flower things with KBShimmer Shore Thing… this is a gorgeous bright aqua that I got as a gift. And I love it! Spring is such a great time for these beautiful teal/ aqua/ mint polishes, and I’m so happy to see this color back on everyone’s nails! It’s my favorite!
  • Ring finger:
    • Base color: KBShimmer Shore Thing
    • Topper: ILNP Supernova… as you can see from the bottle shot, it’s chockfull of multichrome flakies that shift from teal to emerald, kelly green, blue, fuchsia, purple, and even gold. It’s stunning!
  • Pinky: KBShimmer Shore Thing

What do you think? Are there any spiky flowers out there? And if you’ve photographed these multichrome flakies, what are your tricks you wizards??

And now for your daily David Tennant (and Donna, because she’s the most important woman in the world!):

Purple mish-mash manicure

Hello my sweeties! It’s Friday! It was a busy week, so this is going to be a quick post today. I don’t know how to succinctly describe today’s mani, so I’m just calling it the purple mish-mash mani. 🙂 It has a little bit o’everything. I started out wanting a gradient manicure, but I decided I wanted to make it a skittlette manicure.

Purple mish-mash manicure

The darker purple is much more purple in real life. My camera wanted to make it blue-toned, but it is definitely warmer than it photographs. My camera must be prejudiced against blurples! They never work well on film for me!

I also wanted to be able to use a fun polish that I bought awhile back that hasn’t seen any love yet. Reverie Bonfire didn’t match as well as I originally thought it would, but it doesn’t clash too badly!

Closeup of Reverie Bonfire

Polishes used:

  • Pinky: OPI Do You Have This Color In Stock-Holm?… this is a warm leaning blurple that is just stunning. It’s a vibrant purple with a perfect formula.
  • Ring finger (and thumb): Reverie Bonfire… this is a deep blue jelly with coppery orange shards/flakes, blue iridescent glitter, and some holo mixed throughout. I used 3 coats to get this opaque, and the formula wasn’t too thick.
  • Index and middle fingers:
    • Base: Formula X Heart-Stopping… this is a perfect light lavender purple creme.
    • Gradient: Heart-Stopping with Stock-Holm
    • Dots in Stock-Holm

What do you think? Do you think it coordinates alright? What accent glitter/ nail art would you have chosen?

Holo Humpday: WingDust Steel Town Girl

Hello sweeties and happy Holo Humpday! I hope everyone in the cold Northeast is staying as warm as can be with Juno bearing down on you. Today I have a stunningly complex holo to share. I picked up WingDust’s Steel Town Girl probably over a year ago, and I can’t believe this was the first time I’ve worn it!

I bought Steel Town Girl for a few reasons: 1- it’s gorgeous duh, 2- I had never tried WingDust polish, and 3- I now live in Pittsburgh, aka the Steel City, which makes me a Steel Town Girl! So this polish and I are truly a match made in heaven!

WingDust Steel Town Girl

WingDust Steel Town Girl

Now that picture doesn’t do STG enough justice. It’s a deep steely blue-grey almost teal jelly with a scattered holographic base and infused with blue iridescent flakes/ shards and 23 karat gold flakies. In person this is fully opaque, but you can see nail line in the above pic. I used three coats in this mani. Every now and again, I came across a shard that wouldn’t lie flat, but that was rare.

I love how complex this polish is! Kirby (The Mercurial Magpie) recently did a mani layering holos and multiple flakies (check out her Flakies on Fleek post), and after I shut my drooling wide-open mouth I decided I needed to wear something like that immediately! I took multiple polishes out, and then a light bulb went on – I own something similar, and it’s only ONE polish with that effect! So Steel Town Girl = Flakies on Fleek 🙂

Closeup of WingDust Steel Town Girl... and MIC DROP!

That closeup there really represents what this polish looks like in real life. Holo with depth, flakies everywhere, and just general beauty on the nail! I mean, so pretty! I love this one so much.

What do you think? Do you love polishes with more than one special effect? Or are you a polish purist? Have you tried layering these types of polishes before?

Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Newly Impassioned Soul in a Girly Wallpaper design: January NCC #3

Hello sweeties!! Today I have two things to share with you – another gorgeous Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer polish, and my third wallpaper look for January’s Nail Challenge Collaborative. Julie from BEGL sent me this beautiful pink polish from her My Indecisive Valentine collection for review, and it’s called Newly Impassioned Soul. I put this baby on and immediately thought it’d be the perfect base for a girly wallpaper design!

NIS is this baby pink yet still almost neon crelly with loads of iridescent microflakies. It almost leans a bit more jelly than crelly – I used three coats and still had some visible nail line. If I was wearing this alone I would throw a 4th coat on for opacity, but I was planning on stamping over it so I left it at three.

Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Newly Impassioned Soul

Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Newly Impassioned Soul

Isn’t it beautiful? So girly and feminine with a little bit of modern edge from the flakies! My camera freaked out at how pretty it is too.

See those flakies? Love! This is the kind of color that could be all over a little girls’ bedroom decor, so I decided it would be perfect for my Girly Wallpaper Mani!

Girly Wallpaper Manicure

What better to adorn a little girls’ walls than flowers/ roses? I really like how this came out! I was originally going to use a lace image to stamp with, but it covered the pink way too much. And flowers are quintessentially girly!

Growing up I would have died if this was in my room – I was far from a girly girl. But I could totally see this in some chic and girly girl’s room!

Products used:

  • Base color: BEGL Newly Impassioned Soul
  • Stamping plates:
    • Pinky & Ring finger: Konad m65
    • Middle & Index fingers: Shany SH208
  • Stamping polish: Rica Whiteout… amazing opaque white creme!

What do you think? Does this look like wallpaper you’d have in your room growing up? Do you like this BEGL?

Oh! Before I forget – Newly Impassioned Soul is on sale on BEGL’s site! So if you like it, go pick it up!

Purple flakie gradient manicure with stamped accent

Hi sweeties! Happy Friday! It’s colder than a witches teat here in PA, and I’m just counting down the days until it warms up again. I hope y’all are keeping warm! For today’s manicure, I really wanted something vivid. I didn’t like the base color I chose but didn’t want to start from the beginning, so I ended up layering and dabbing and stamping until I liked it!

Purple flakie graient + stamping

Purple flakie gradient + stamping

So that Julep bottle I’m holding is the polish I used as my base color, Ariana. I originally was going to just wear that alone, but I didn’t like it so much. It’s a berry-leaning eggplant purple with a lot of silvery shimmer, and the formula was pretty crappy – gloopy but weirdly thin, and it took forever to dry. Anyways, I decided that instead of starting over with another mani altogether, I’d just throw a bunch of other stuff on it until I liked the result! 🙂

A better picture of this manicure

A better picture of this manicure

So I layered Orly’s Purple Poodle over that Julep, and I just love the result! Purple Poodle is this raspberry jelly polish with some purple and blue microglitter, and it really warmed up the Julep polish but still let a bit of shimmer shine through. I know I slapped some other stuff on top of that combo, but you can see it at the base of my nails and behind the stamp.

And can we just talk about those flakies?! I am officially deeply in love with multichrome flakies! I Love Nail Polish did such a great job with this line – I was lucky enough to win 6 in a giveaway, and I bought a few extra as well since I love them so! I chose one that leaned strongly purple/blue (Luna), and it matched perfectly to the base color!

Just look at those flakies!!

Just look at those flakies!!

As you can see in that closeup, Luna leans mostly raspberry purple, but shifts to teal, blue, pink, gold, and a smidge of green! In certain lighting, the flakies blend into the rest of the polish but will come alive if you move your hands. I love it!

An odd angle to show off more flakie goodness

An odd angle to show off more flakie goodness!

I love this above picture just for the bottle shot! I wanted to show you different angles so you could see more of the flakie shift.

Products used:

  • Base color: Julep Ariana… as described above – a yucky no-good polish, but a surprisingly good base for this!
  • Jelly topper: Orly Purple Poodle… warm raspberry jelly with purple and blue microglitters.
  • Stamping plate: MoYou London Suki 04
  • Stamping polish: Essie Nothing Else Metals… a light silvery lavender chrome that is perfect for stamping!
  • Flakie: ILNP Luna… described and shown in detail above. I just dabbed this over the top half of my nail a few times. It’s amazingly opaque in 2-3 coats on its own, so you see it real well in this mani.

So what do you think? Do you ever do this type of thing for a mani – just layer/ dabble/ stamp and add things until you love it or just have to start over? Are you staying warm this frigid part of winter? Have a great weekend!!

Holo Humpday: Indigo Bananas Galactic Halo (holo version)

Hello sweeties! This post is going to be picture heavy because this holographic polish is a BEAUTY! I felt like it was a high fashion model and I was giving it its own photo shoot, like “work it gurl!” For today’s holo humpday, I give you Indigo Bananas Galactic Halo (holo version, naturally)!

Indigo Bananas Galactic Halo (holo)

Indigo Bananas Galactic Halo (holo)

She’s working it alright! This is one of those polishes that looks great in the bottle but just makes your jaw drop when it’s on the nail. Galactic Halo is described on the site as a lavender to copper chrome flakie and linear holographic polish in a clear base. Depending on the light and angle, you can see magenta, teal, gold, green, and even silvery chrome. It’s real sheer on the first coat, but builds to opacity in 2-3 coats.

Indigo Bananas Galactic Halo (holo)

In person, it’s super dynamic! I am in love with this stunner!

Here it is in a few more different angles:

And this:

I bought the mini bottle of this, but I can definitely see myself getting a full-size! It’s so beautiful! I just love how Indigo Bananas always takes a new trend and puts their own spin on it – you see so many multichrome flakies now, but putting it in a holo base? Genius!

What do you think? Do you like the new flakie craze? I personally love it, but there are so many out there now! Which is your favorite?

What do you think?
