80s glitter and holo skittlette

Hello sweeties!

River Song hello sweetie doctor who

Yup ^that^!

Happy Friday! I’m going to be working a loooooong shift today (probably 30 hours), so I decided I needed some amazingly fun nails to get me through! What are a few of my favorite things? The 80s, Doctor Who, glitter, neon, and holos! So let’s put them all together in one mani, and what do we get?

My glitter and holo skittlette

My glitter and holo skittlette

Mmm hmm – exactly what I thought! Throw some of my favorite polishes together, and you get a color scheme out of the 80s… perfection! I just love these all together (and separately)!

I just knew that neon pink would go perfectly with the rest! Get ready, ’cause here come some closeups:

For some reason, the above closeup wanted to photograph more teal. In reality the base holo is more emerald (see below closeup). But I wanted to show off the glitter 🙂

Whoa baby, right?!

Polishes used:

  • Pinky (and thumb): China Glaze Glow With The Flow… This is another winner from the new Electric Nights collection. Perfect formula, AND it’s a true neon pink! I love this one so much. It’s going to be an absolutely perfect polish for my toes!
  • Index: Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Mickey Smith, Defending the Earth… This is one of my favorite BEGLs of all time! It’s from her amazing Doctor Who collection (The It Got Away From Me, Yeah… collection), and it’s a GORGEOUS emerald green/ hunter green holo. LOVE! Mickey Smith is not my favorite character, but the polish based on him is a definite favorite!
  • Middle & ring fingers:
    • Base color: BEGL Mickey Smith, Defending the Earth
    • Topper: Digital Nails Wibbly Wobbly v2.0… This is a great glitter topper based on my favorite Doctor (Ten, duh!) and his famous line from Blink about time being all wibbly wobbly, timey wimey. It’s a clear base packed with small emerald green hexes, matte chartreuse, neon pink, and blue glitters, and large blue holographic circles. The v2.0 just refers to it being a slight reformulation of an older version. I love this! It was so easy to get all the glitters out! I only used one full coat plus a little dabbing to get out a variety of glitter.

What do you think? Does this scream 80s to you? If you did a mani filled with your favorite things, what would it look like?

And now for your daily David Tennant!

WingDust Muskoka Sunset

Hello my sweeties! Today I’m showing you a polish that was one of my lemmings; I bought it awhile back and haven’t worn it until now. #polishhoarderproblems am I right? There are just SO many pretties out there, and I want them all!

Veruca salt give it to me now, willy wonka

I can imagine Veruca Salt hoarding nail polish, can’t you? Aaaanyways, I finally found and squashed my lemming – WingDust Muskoka Sunset! And then it sat with unused polishes for more months than I’d care to admit. Well, it’s finally time to put the beauty on!

WingDust Muskoka Sunset

WingDust Muskoka Sunset

Nice right? It’s so vibrant and colorful! Muskoka Sunset has a fuchsia-purple jelly base with loads of glitter packed in. There’s matte hot pink, blue, and tangerine yellow-orange hexes, iridescent purple and blue and pink circles, small purple bar glitter, and little purple and blue microglitter.

WingDust Muskoka Sunset

WingDust Muskoka Sunset

It even almost looks like there’s a bit of blue shimmer to the jelly base! Seeing this on my nails reminds me why it was such a lemming for me – it’s so stunning!

And a closeup:

When I had this on for a bit, I was reminded of one of KBShimmer‘s polishes from their Winter collection – Sugar Plum Faerie. That was another one I was drawn to and purchased but had yet to wear!

Here’s a quick comparison of the two:

L: WingDust Muskoka Sunset, R: KBShimmer Sugar Plum Faerie

L: WingDust Muskoka Sunset, R: KBShimmer Sugar Plum Faerie

So they’re obviously different. Sugar Plum Faerie’s base jelly is more cool-toned purple and is packed with smaller glitter. The glitter is also all iridescent where Muskoka Sunset has mostly matte glitter.

On a slightly negative note, I was not 100% thrilled with the formula of Sugar Plum Faerie. It looks like a crelly in the bottle, but it really is a true jelly. It’s very sheer, like VERY sheer. I painted 4 coats for the above swatch and you can still see patches and visible nail line. It is a stunning mixture of color, but I think I’ll have to layer it over a creme next time I wear it!

Anyways, I’m really digging Muskoka Sunset! I need to wear it again ASAP. It’s only my second WingDust ever, and I’m impressed.

What do you think? Do you like glitter-packed polishes? Do you like sheer jellies?

And now for your daily David Tennant (I’ve decided my blog posts are better with him in it 🙂 ):

Holo Humpday: Glam Polish Welcome To The 60s

Hello sweeties! I have a quick post for you today. A bit ago, I had just gotten into Glam Polish and made multiple purchases. This beauty is one of them! Welcome To The 60s is from the Hairspray Collection, and I adore it!

Glam Polish Welcome To The 60s

Glam Polish Welcome To The 60s

Welcome To The 60s is a light yellow gold holo/ microglitter interspersed with small white and pink-toned hexes. As you can imagine, it’s super sparkly!

When looking at this from afar, all you really see is the gold holo/ microglitter. But looking at it up close, the hexes come through and make it more interesting!

Here’s a bottle shot:

And a closeup:

This polish was full coverage in 2 coats, but I dabbed on a third… for no good reason. I think I just wanted to keep going haha! 🙂

What do you think? Do you like holos with other glitter in them?

Also, I wanted to thank everyone for your sweet birthday wishes! It’s so nice to see these birthday wishes all across social media – I feel so loved!! Thank you! 🙂

KBShimmer Iris My Case

Hello my sweet readers!  As I’ve mentioned a few times, I’ve been real busy with work the last 2 weeks. I usually like to have some fun nail art on my Friday posts, but today I’m just wearing a beautiful springy nail polish.

KBShimmer Iris My Case is actually one of the very first KBShimmer’s I ever bought! For some reason, I’ve never worn it. I have no idea why because it’s stunning! I was really in the mood for something lighter and feminine. It’s getting colder and more snowy again, so I wanted to wear a nice springy polish for Valentine’s Day!

KBShimmer Iris My Case

KBShimmer Iris My Case… for some reason, my camera turned my skin jaundiced, but the polish color is accurate!

Iris My Case is a light pastel purple, almost periwinkle crelly packed with fuchsia, purple, copper, blue, and white glitters. It’s really sheer on the first coat, but it’s opaque in 3. I actually really love crelly glitters that are on the sheerer side on the first coat because it allows the glitter from the base coats to show through.

Oh and as you can tell, I’ve had to file down my nails. I was driving home from work yesterday, and I looked down to see a crazy jagged break on my middle finger. So yeah, time for nubbins! But I don’t mind shorter nails… it just takes a little getting used to.

I love this polish so much! I am a huge fan of purple polish in general, and light purple is one of my favorites. Add some glitter to it and it’s a big winner in my book.

Also, I broke out my semi-new top coat – Digital Nails Ain’t Nobody Got Time For That. I am such a big fan of that too! It’s super glossy and dries as fast as Seche Vite (but without the shrinkage!). I’m sold… so sold that I just purchased the ginormous refill bottle.

What do you think? Do you own this KBShimmer? What’s your favorite springy polish color/ finish?

Holo Humpday: Glam Polish You Can’t Stop The Beat

Hello sweeties! I’m working on very little sleep – I just realized that I lost one of the posts from this past Friday. Maybe I deleted it or wrote Monday’s post over it? I have no idea… it’s just gone. So since I’m wandering around in a sleep-deprived trance, I’m going to let the pictures do the talking for this post!

This is Glam Polish You Can’t Stop The Beat!

This was another one of those “WORK IT GURRL” moments as I took these pics! This polish is a total winner! I wore it as the base for a holiday jelly sandwich, but I wanted to share it with you alone!

So yeah… love this one! And now it’s time for me to hibernate for the rest of winter 🙂

Do you have this beauty? Or have suggestions for other Glam Polish items to pick up?

Holiday Party Manicure

So I intended to do a manicure for my Holiday Party yesterday, but I ended up staying late at work with no time to both get dressed AND do my nails. While I personally would prefer to have my nails done than wear pretty clothes, I didn’t think it’d be good for my career to show up naked with a great manicure. But I’d like to show you what I would have done if I had the time!

My Holiday Jelly Sandwich Manicure

My Holiday Jelly Sandwich Manicure

I don’t do jelly sandwiches often enough, so I thought I’d glitz one up for a holiday party- appropriate mani! I wanted a good cheery red, and what better way to glitz things up than to add a bunch of glitter?

Here’s a closeup:

Glitter jelly sandwich manicure

Glitter jelly sandwich manicure

It’s like a pretty ornament!

Polishes used:

  • Base color: Glam Polish You Can’t Stop The Beat… this is an absolutely amaaaazing polish!! It’s this gorgeous pinky orange-leaning red scattered holo with golden shimmer. I definitely need to show y’all this baby on its own someday!
  • Glitter gradient: Essie Set in Stones (silver multisize hex glitter) and Orly Mermaid Tale (emerald green multisize hex glitter)
  • Jelly topper: Zoya Paloma… this is a purple leaning raspberry sheer jelly. It transformed the base color and glitter nicely without covering it too much. It did, however, make the emerald green glitter blue (I guess purple + green = blue).

Anyways if I did this one again, I’d probably do without the green glitter (seeing as how it doesn’t even look green with the jelly topper). But otherwise I really like this! I love that the holo still shines through – the jelly just gives it more depth.

What do you think? What are your favorite jelly sandwich combos? What’s on your nails for holiday parties?

CrowsToes Candied Brains Anyone?: another amazing Halloween glitter

Happy Halloween everyone! What are your plans? I’m going to a friend’s party to hand out candy and imbibe some fun drinks! For this Halloween, I wanted to show you another beautiful CrowsToes glitter topper that’s perfect for the holiday (see VooDoo here). Candied Brains Anyone? was a limited edition polish for October’s A Box Indied. It’s not available anymore, but I was lucky enough to buy it off someone in a Facebook group!

CrowsToes Candied Brains, Anyone? over OPI Do You Have This Color In Stockholm?

CrowsToes Candied Brains Anyone? over OPI Do You Have This Color In Stockholm?

This glitter topper is perfection! There are multi-sized hexes of orange, green, purple, blue, and fuchsia. It would look good over almost any polish, but I used OPI Do You Have This Color In Stockholm? as my base color. The formula was great too – the glitter payoff was amazeballs (this is seriously just one coat!).

Another pic of the beauty!

Another pic of the beauty!

Isn’t this just so pretty?! It’s not a typical Halloween manicure, but it’s colorful and it reminds me of a big bag of different candies. I just plain love it!

Here’s a closeup:

That OPI polish is stunning too! It’s a true blurple – a perfect mix of blue and purple. As you can tell with the above pics, sometimes it leans more one than the other. But it’s sooo pretty!

Anyways, so Happy Halloween! What’s your costume? What’s on your nails?
