Holo Humpday: Superficially Colorful Omaticaya

Hello sweeties!! I’m feeling “writers block” right now. I’m like Michael Scott here:

Michael Scott, the office

So yeah, I’m going to keep it short and sweet and just show you a pretty holo! I scrounged around my collection to see if there were any older holos that haven’t been shared, and I came across my Superficially Colorful Lacquer’s A Life on Pandora collection (aka a neon holo Avatar-inspired line). I realized it was high time to share others! I previously posted Atokirina, Toruk Makto, and The Sacred Tsaheylu. So without further ado, I give you Omaticaya!

Superficially Colorful Omaticaya

Superficially Colorful Omaticaya

Huminah, huminah, huminah… drool, drool, drool – SO PRETTY! Doesn’t that pic look extra saturated or altered? Well, it’s not… because this polish is that gorgeous!

Superficially Colorful Omaticaya

Superficially Colorful Omaticaya

Omaticaya refers to the nationality of the people living on the planet, Pandora. If you’ve seen the movie (or even just a poster or trailer), doesn’t the polish look identical to the skin color of the Omaticaya?! #iamaginormousnerd

Yeah this blue is ridiculous! Here’s a closeup:

Whoa baby. Just WHOA. Isn’t that stunning?! What do you think? Did you check this collection out? If not, it’s totally worth it! I own the whole collection, and love each one!

And now for your daily David Tennant!

Holo Humpday: KBShimmer Ins And Sprouts

Why hello again my sweeties! It’s time for another Holo Humpday, and I am SO excited to show you this one. I took a chance with this polish from KBShimmer because chartreuse has the potential to look terrible on me. But I don’t own ANYTHING like it, so I had to buy Ins And Sprouts from the recent Spring 2015 collection!

KBShimmer Ins And Sprouts

KBShimmer Ins And Sprouts

I mean, WHOA baby! And this totally deserves a Joey from Blossom “Whoa!” C’mon – you 90s children know what I’m talking about right?

Joey Lawrence Whoa

So yeah, this polish is amazing! Surprisingly enough, I adore the color. I’m usually not a huge chartreuse fan, but this baby called to me when I first saw swatches of the Spring collection. First, Christy was calling this an ultra-holo and how on earth could I deny myself an ultra-holo?! And then the beautiful swatches came – it seemed like it looked perfect on everyone! So I had to try it!

KBShimmer Ins And Sprouts

KBShimmer Ins And Sprouts

YAAAAS! It’s this odd light yellow-green chartreuse, which doesn’t sound beautiful. But dayumn, it really is! It’s like the kind of chartreuse you’d see in the iridescent yellow-green Easter basket grass, but it’s so flattering and unique on the nail.

KBShimmer Ins And Sprouts

KBShimmer Ins And Sprouts

And that holo! I think this totally qualifies as an ultra-holo. The linear flame is crazy intense – I mean I had no sun to work with, so all these pics are indoors and the holo is still amazing!

Check out the closeup too:

Love. Just plain love this! Plus the formula is perfect – it’s opaque in 1-2 coats depending on the thickness. The 2nd coat intensifies the color and holo effect.

What do you think? Did you pick up any of the KBShimmer ultra-holos or any of the other Spring polishes?

Ok off-topic now… my husband just stole my computer when I left the room and added some lovely notes lol. I debated deleting it, but I wanted to show you how adorably silly my man is. In case you’re just here for the polish, feel free to stop reading and just appreciate the pretty pictures! I’ll leave you with the daily David Tennant, and then Mr. Doctor Crafty’s note will be below 🙂

I'll take that job!

Evil-Joyful Laugh! Hello, Everyone! Your friend is in the other room doing other-things. I wanted to say two thoughts about my special lady friend:

1. Dr C hardly ever lets me touch her laptop. This is more laptop touches than I’ve had all month! This is the truth-speaking.

2. I wanted to say thank you for all the love you show Dr C. WHY? ??

When she started getting into nail art, well, at first I was skeptical. I thought it was, hmmm? “Why is this love person making very tiny paintings? Why does she not make me ham sammich?”

I have come to see nail art something akin to Tibetan mandalas, impermanent meditations that live in the moment. The designs can be beautiful, but fleeting.

I have come to see nail art as “real” art, highly creative and skillful. There are so many techniques, textures, tools, and techniques to consider. Within what I thought was a small niche, there is a world of possibilities.

I have come to see nail art as social – and this is where you come in. Dr C loves seeing what you have come up with, and sharing what she does.

IN CONCLUSION

Now that I have nail art, she even paints my toes!

Surprise Hooray!

So yeah, I married that man. Silly sweet man 🙂

Holo Humpday: Glam Polish Ladies Choice

Hello my sweeties! Today’s holo is Glam Polish Ladies Choice. From all the polishes in the recent Hairspray collection, this was the one I was most excited about. Teal holos are my jam!

Glam Polish Ladies Choice

Glam Polish Ladies Choice

This color is gorgeous! It’s a perfect teal/ turquoise, but it also has this lavender purple shimmer with a little bit of a duochrome feel. I have a ton of pictures of this baby because I was trying to capture every little shimmer or shift!

Glam Polish Ladies Choice

Glam Polish Ladies Choice

The holo is pretty strong too! I loved this when it first touched my nails – it’s such a perfect color for spring!

Glam Polish Ladies Choice

Glam Polish Ladies Choice

The longer I wore this polish, I began to notice that the lavender shimmer gives it almost a frosty feel in certain lighting. I’m not a huge fan of frosty polishes, and it made me sad that this beauty leaned that way.

Glam Polish Ladies Choice

And a pic that shows you the almost frosted look:

Glam Polish Ladies Choice

So yeah, if you’re not into frosts you may not like this polish. But it really only looks frosty in certain lighting. It’s otherwise pretty damn stunning!

What do you think? Do you like frosty polishes or ones that can lean frosty?

Holo Humpday: KBShimmer Men Are From Mars-ala

Hello my sweeties! Welcome to yet another Holo Humpday! Aren’t you impressed that I haven’t exhausted my holo stash yet?! I have quite the collection, so I definitely have enough to last for many more Holo Humpdays to come! Today’s featured holo is KBShimmer’s Men Are From Mars-ala.

As I’m sure you all know, Marsala was chosen as Pantone’s color of the year for 2015. When I initially saw swatches of this, I was not impressed. It seemed the kind of color that was very big for elderly ladies. But then KBShimmer put out their version, and oh did I change my mind! Men Are From Mars-ala is such a beautiful version of Marsala.

KBShimmer Men Are From Mars-ala

KBShimmer Men Are From Mars-ala

I had held off on buying this since I have so many red holos, but I’m so glad I gave in! It’s a more brick red with brown tones that leans orange-red in certain lighting. And it’s different from most of my other red holos!

KBShimmer Men Are From Mars-ala

KBShimmer Men Are From Mars-ala… in more direct lighting

I have a ton of pictures to show since it’s so beautiful!

KBShimmer Men Are From Mars-ala

I think the above swatch is probably the most accurate in terms of what Mars-ala looks like in most lighting.

The formula is perfection – it covers in 2 easy coats, and the linear holo is strong even in low lighting. I think this polish is such a beautiful earthy red! It’s a sexy red with a modern twist, and I think it would look good on everyone no matter your skin tone!

What do you think? Do you have this stunner? If not, you need it in your life!!

Holo Humpday: Philly Loves Lacquer Smelly Pirate Hooker

Hello sweetie and happy Holo Humpday! I’m so excited to share this one with you, primarily because it’s one of the most amazingly named polishes I own. SMELLY PIRATE HOOKER! I mean, how could you not love that?! Plus, it’s a pretty polish too 🙂

Philly Loves Lacquer Smelly Pirate Hooker

Philly Loves Lacquer Smelly Pirate Hooker

Smelly Pirate Hooker is (obviously) an homage to Anchorman, and it’s a part of a monthly collaboration between Philly Loves Lacquer and Mishka of Accio Lacquer. It’s also one of my favorite insults! And sidenote – I love reading Accio Lacquer’s posts… she’s a super fan of everything nerdy, which makes me so very happy. Because I’m a nerd. Obviously.

Philly Loves Lacquer Smelly Pirate Hooker

The second picture is more color accurate than the first. My camera hates these coral/ pinky shades and really wanted to change this polish to a neon. In real life, it’s a medium shade of coral-pink with a  very subtle scattered holo and some golden shimmer. It reminds me of fruit punch! Like a slightly darker version of the pink Starburst.

I love this polish! The name is amazing, the color is gorgeous, the formula is perfect, AND it’s holo! This polish wins on all accounts! And c’mon, who doesn’t want to yell out “SMELLY PIRATE HOOKER” when someone asks you what you have on your nails?

I think the polish is currently out of stock on the PhLL site, but if you can find it or if it’s restocked – you need it!

What do you think? Are you excited for brighter colors to emerge in the spring and summer polish collections? I could use some bright when it’s this cold and grey!

Holo Humpday: Glam Polish Welcome To The 60s

Hello sweeties! I have a quick post for you today. A bit ago, I had just gotten into Glam Polish and made multiple purchases. This beauty is one of them! Welcome To The 60s is from the Hairspray Collection, and I adore it!

Glam Polish Welcome To The 60s

Glam Polish Welcome To The 60s

Welcome To The 60s is a light yellow gold holo/ microglitter interspersed with small white and pink-toned hexes. As you can imagine, it’s super sparkly!

Glam Polish Welcome To The 60s

When looking at this from afar, all you really see is the gold holo/ microglitter. But looking at it up close, the hexes come through and make it more interesting!

Here’s a bottle shot:

And a closeup:

This polish was full coverage in 2 coats, but I dabbed on a third… for no good reason. I think I just wanted to keep going haha! 🙂

What do you think? Do you like holos with other glitter in them?

Also, I wanted to thank everyone for your sweet birthday wishes! It’s so nice to see these birthday wishes all across social media – I feel so loved!! Thank you! 🙂

Holo Humpday: Glam Polish You Can’t Stop The Beat

Hello sweeties! I’m working on very little sleep – I just realized that I lost one of the posts from this past Friday. Maybe I deleted it or wrote Monday’s post over it? I have no idea… it’s just gone. So since I’m wandering around in a sleep-deprived trance, I’m going to let the pictures do the talking for this post!

This is Glam Polish You Can’t Stop The Beat!

Glam Polish You Can't Stop The Beat

This polish GLOWS in person! There’s a pinkish orange leaning red holo base with golden and blue microglitters interspersed throughout.

It is just SO gorgeous in person!

This was another one of those “WORK IT GURRL” moments as I took these pics! This polish is a total winner! I wore it as the base for a holiday jelly sandwich, but I wanted to share it with you alone!

So yeah… love this one! And now it’s time for me to hibernate for the rest of winter 🙂

Do you have this beauty? Or have suggestions for other Glam Polish items to pick up?

Holo Humpday: Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Void Stuff

Hello sweeties! I am slowly working my way through all the many polishes I bought from Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer‘s Doctor Who-themed collection (the It Got Away From Me, Yeah… collection). Today, I’m sharing one of my favorites – Void Stuff! I have a lot of pictures because my camera freaked out at its gorgeousness and I tried a bunch of different angles and lighting.

Void Stuff is based on my man, David Tennant aka the 10th Doctor. Specifically, “Void Stuff” is something that surrounds people who have traveled to a parallel universe and is able to be seen via 3D glasses. This is a part of the most heartbreaking episode that makes me curl up in the fetal position ugly crying EVERY time I watch it!

Anyways, onto the polish!

Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Void Stuff

Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Void Stuff

Void Stuff is a deep teal-green linear holo with subtle blue to red shifting flecks. In some lighting, it looks like a dark aquamarine (as in the above pic). And in other pics, it looks darker and slightly more teal.

Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Void Stuff

Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Void Stuff

And the pic right there shows what it looks like in most lighting.

Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Void Stuff

Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Void Stuff

The pic above is in different lighting that unfortunately also makes my skin look super jaundiced. But it does show off some of the green-tinge to the holo.

And an obligatory closeup:

Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Void Stuff

Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Void Stuff

The closeup is probably the most color accurate pic I was able to get. Plus it shows some of the blue-red flecks!

Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Void Stuff

Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Void Stuff

And I took a slightly blurry pic of the bottle to show off the blue-red flecks! I think that might have to be a new phone background for me!

So I adore this polish – it’s yet another BEGL win! And since it’s David Tennant in Doctor Who-themed, it’s a double win! The formula is amazing, the holo is strong, and the color is gorgeous. You can’t lose. When I saw swatches of this beauty, I guessed it was going to be my favorite. And I wasn’t wrong – this is definitely in my top 3 of the IGAFMY collection!

What do you think? Do you own Void Stuff? Are you as much of a crybaby as me when it comes to watching the Doomsday Doctor Who episode?

Holo Humpday: WingDust Steel Town Girl

Hello sweeties and happy Holo Humpday! I hope everyone in the cold Northeast is staying as warm as can be with Juno bearing down on you. Today I have a stunningly complex holo to share. I picked up WingDust’s Steel Town Girl probably over a year ago, and I can’t believe this was the first time I’ve worn it!

I bought Steel Town Girl for a few reasons: 1- it’s gorgeous duh, 2- I had never tried WingDust polish, and 3- I now live in Pittsburgh, aka the Steel City, which makes me a Steel Town Girl! So this polish and I are truly a match made in heaven!

WingDust Steel Town Girl

WingDust Steel Town Girl

Now that picture doesn’t do STG enough justice. It’s a deep steely blue-grey almost teal jelly with a scattered holographic base and infused with blue iridescent flakes/ shards and 23 karat gold flakies. In person this is fully opaque, but you can see nail line in the above pic. I used three coats in this mani. Every now and again, I came across a shard that wouldn’t lie flat, but that was rare.

I love how complex this polish is! Kirby (The Mercurial Magpie) recently did a mani layering holos and multiple flakies (check out her Flakies on Fleek post), and after I shut my drooling wide-open mouth I decided I needed to wear something like that immediately! I took multiple polishes out, and then a light bulb went on – I own something similar, and it’s only ONE polish with that effect! So Steel Town Girl = Flakies on Fleek 🙂

Closeup of WingDust Steel Town Girl... and MIC DROP!

That closeup there really represents what this polish looks like in real life. Holo with depth, flakies everywhere, and just general beauty on the nail! I mean, so pretty! I love this one so much.

What do you think? Do you love polishes with more than one special effect? Or are you a polish purist? Have you tried layering these types of polishes before?

Holo Humpday: Glam Polish Mount Doom

Hello my sweeties! I’m sitting here watching crappy television and admiring my nails… typical weekday night for me! 😉 I find that mindless crappy TV can be so relaxing – just give me a glass of wine and bring on the Housewives!

Aaanyways, the nail polish I’m admiring right now is Glam Polish Mount Doom. I recently gave in and made my first (and second shortly thereafter) Glam Polish purchase, and I can’t believe I didn’t try them out before! They make some stunning sparkly polishes, and the quality is always great. Mount Doom is from the Epic Journey collection from this past summer and is based on Lord of the Rings!

Glam Polish Mount Doom

Glam Polish Mount Doom

Isn’t this one gorgeous? It’s this duochrome shimmery holo that shifts from pinkish purple to indigo blue. The shift is really subtle, but you can at least see the pinkish tinge in the pics.

Here’s a closeup:

Glam Polish Mount Doom

And another closeup:

Glam Polish Mount Doom

See how different it looks in slightly different lighting? I love that! When I looked at the other polishes in this collection, they all looked beautiful. The Epic Journey collection was limited edition, but I think there are still a few available on the site!

What do you think? Do you have any Glam Polishes? How about guilty TV pleasures?
