WingDust Muskoka Sunset

Hello my sweeties! Today I’m showing you a polish that was one of my lemmings; I bought it awhile back and haven’t worn it until now. #polishhoarderproblems am I right? There are just SO many pretties out there, and I want them all!

Veruca salt give it to me now, willy wonka

I can imagine Veruca Salt hoarding nail polish, can’t you? Aaaanyways, I finally found and squashed my lemming – WingDust Muskoka Sunset! And then it sat with unused polishes for more months than I’d care to admit. Well, it’s finally time to put the beauty on!

WingDust Muskoka Sunset

Nice right? It’s so vibrant and colorful! Muskoka Sunset has a fuchsia-purple jelly base with loads of glitter packed in. There’s matte hot pink, blue, and tangerine yellow-orange hexes, iridescent purple and blue and pink circles, small purple bar glitter, and little purple and blue microglitter.

It even almost looks like there’s a bit of blue shimmer to the jelly base! Seeing this on my nails reminds me why it was such a lemming for me – it’s so stunning!

When I had this on for a bit, I was reminded of one of KBShimmer‘s polishes from their Winter collection – Sugar Plum Faerie. That was another one I was drawn to and purchased but had yet to wear!

Here’s a quick comparison of the two:

So they’re obviously different. Sugar Plum Faerie’s base jelly is more cool-toned purple and is packed with smaller glitter. The glitter is also all iridescent where Muskoka Sunset has mostly matte glitter.

On a slightly negative note, I was not 100% thrilled with the formula of Sugar Plum Faerie. It looks like a crelly in the bottle, but it really is a true jelly. It’s very sheer, like VERY sheer. I painted 4 coats for the above swatch and you can still see patches and visible nail line. It is a stunning mixture of color, but I think I’ll have to layer it over a creme next time I wear it!

Anyways, I’m really digging Muskoka Sunset! I need to wear it again ASAP. It’s only my second WingDust ever, and I’m impressed.

What do you think? Do you like glitter-packed polishes? Do you like sheer jellies?

And now for your daily David Tennant (I’ve decided my blog posts are better with him in it 🙂 ):

My first Indigo Bananas!

Yay for Friday! I am just exhausted after these past two weeks – work has been crazy. But things are better because it’s Friday! And guess what else makes things better? An amazing new polish to show you, of course! I’ve seen Indigo Bananas around here and there, and I’ve been wanting to try their polish out. They always seem like they have some of the most unique polishes!

I saw swatches of the Indigo Bananas Summer Rains collection on The Mercurial Magpie’s blog, and I had to bite the bullet and purchase a few! Kirby’s swatches were amazing (as usual), and she is totally one of my biggest polish enablers! The polish from the Summer Rains collection I was most excited about is Acid Ocean.

Indigo Bananas Acid Ocean – 3 coats

Crazy beautiful right?! Acid Ocean is a deep teal jelly with green-gold shimmer and aqua-green small flakies. It’s so freaking pretty!

Such a complex polish!

Such a complex polish!

In most lighting it looks just like the pictures above, but then it can look almost emerald-teal in darker light or a brighter teal in more bright light.

Brighter, more direct light

Brighter, more direct light

That wasn’t a great picture, but I wanted to show off the brighter teal shift in more direct lighting. Also, as a sidenote – in person, you can’t see the visible nail edge.

I am just loving this polish! What do you think? Do you have any polishes from Indigo Bananas? If not, I highly recommend this one! 😉

Enjoy the weekend everyone!

Holo Humpday: Loaded Lacquer Double Shot of Sriracha

I’ve been on a quest, a noble but difficult quest. I have been searching for the perfect red holo. I’m talking about primary color red, a cherry-ish true red with a strong linear holo. I’ve seen many try and fail over and over again, most leaning pink, blueish-purple, or orange. So I went asking around my trusty polish-themed Facebook groups and came up with some good candidates.

My first candidate is from Loaded Lacquer and is called Double Shot of Sriracha. I was lucky enough to grab this baby up in a restock. It’s from the Sushi Bar Collection. Perfect, because this polish looks like its namesake, Sriracha!

In this quest of mine, unfortunately this lovely doesn’t quite make it. It’s a bit of a coppery/ orange red. Despite that, I’m still loving it! It’s quite stunning. Strong linear holo, and the color is quite pretty! The formula is really nice too – it applies like a jelly but has perfect coverage without visible nail lines in 3 coats.

Here come more pics:

Just look at that holo under direct light! It even looks a little pinkish here too.

Another with a slightly different angle:

I have to say, this is a great polish! If you like red holos that lean a bit coppery-orange, you should definitely get this!

But my quest continues… I’ll keep you updated if I find what I’m looking for! Are you on any polish quests? Do you have my holy grail red holo? Let me know!
