Holo Humpday: Indigo Bananas Galactic Halo (holo version)

Hello sweeties! This post is going to be picture heavy because this holographic polish is a BEAUTY! I felt like it was a high fashion model and I was giving it its own photo shoot, like “work it gurl!” For today’s holo humpday, I give you Indigo Bananas Galactic Halo (holo version, naturally)!

She’s working it alright! This is one of those polishes that looks great in the bottle but just makes your jaw drop when it’s on the nail. Galactic Halo is described on the site as a lavender to copper chrome flakie and linear holographic polish in a clear base. Depending on the light and angle, you can see magenta, teal, gold, green, and even silvery chrome. It’s real sheer on the first coat, but builds to opacity in 2-3 coats.

In person, it’s super dynamic! I am in love with this stunner!

Here it is in a few more different angles:

I bought the mini bottle of this, but I can definitely see myself getting a full-size! It’s so beautiful! I just love how Indigo Bananas always takes a new trend and puts their own spin on it – you see so many multichrome flakies now, but putting it in a holo base? Genius!

What do you think? Do you like the new flakie craze? I personally love it, but there are so many out there now! Which is your favorite?

A Post-Christmas Christmas Manicure

I hope everyone who celebrates had a great Christmas yesterday, and I hope your day was filled with happiness and love! I’m still feeling festive, so I decided that I want to show you another Christmassy mani.

I wasn’t exactly sure what I was going to end up with when I started this mani, but I’m pretty happy with the results! I picked a bunch of new festive polishes and threw this baby together.

I had seen somewhere on the interwebs that Zoya was discontinuing their PixieDusts, so I picked up a ton of the original formula (those are my favorite!). That was such a surprise to me since Zoya puts out so many Pixies and they’re really popular. Were you/ are you as surprised as me? But anyways, I wanted to utilize one of my new Pixies – I think Tomoko is such a perfect festive polish, so I had to use it for this mani.

Products used:

  • Index and middle fingers:
    • Base color: Zoya Veruschka… my favorite of the Matte Velvets – it’s this beautiful emerald green with subtle silvery gold shimmer
    • Top color: Indigo Bananas Enchanted Lake… this is like the emerald version of Acid Ocean (see my blog post featuring it here), a beautiful dark green jelly with orangey and green flakies. It’s so pretty!
  • Ring finger:
    • Base color: Zoya Veruschka
    • Chevron nail vinyls… I got these particular ones from Nail Vinyls
    • Top color: Zoya Tomoko… a beautiful off-white golden textured polish. This is a gorgeous original PixieDust!
  • Pinky: KBShimmer Whole Lava Lovin’… I got this beauty as a gift, and I love it! It’s such a great pink-leaning red holo. It had been on my wishlist for awhile, and I’m so happy to finally own it! Thanks to Brigitte from Color Me So Crazy for hooking me up with this baby! 🙂

What do you think? Do you wear festive manis after the actual holiday itself? How was your Christmas – what did everyone get?

Happy belated holidays!

Ruffian Dotticure: December’s NCC #2

This weekend was a busy one, taking care of my sick dog. He ate something that didn’t agree with him at all. So I played mama to an unhappy puppy, and I didn’t get to the many manicures and blog posts I had planned on completing! Therefore, my second dotticure for December’s NCC is a simple one!

I decided to do a dotted version of the ruffian mani. I’ve actually never done a ruffian, but I love the look – so classy and simple. I was worried that this one would come out a bit boring, but I really am loving it!

Dat base color tho! I mean, wow! I used Indigo Bananas Electric Unicorns as that stunning base color. It’s a perfect deep lavender with itty bitty silvery green flakies. Those flakies give the polish a gorgeous shimmery depth to it without looking too frosty. I love it! Indigo Bananas really knows how to do a polish right! 🙂

The dots are a coordinating darker purple. It’s the Sephora brand (not Formula X or SOPI) and is called VooDoo Doll. My camera wanted to capture the whole mani a bit more blue than it actually is in person.

Well I just love this manicure! I think Electric Unicorns really stole the show here, don’t you? Do you like this take on a ruffian mani?

My first Indigo Bananas!

Yay for Friday! I am just exhausted after these past two weeks – work has been crazy. But things are better because it’s Friday! And guess what else makes things better? An amazing new polish to show you, of course! I’ve seen Indigo Bananas around here and there, and I’ve been wanting to try their polish out. They always seem like they have some of the most unique polishes!

I saw swatches of the Indigo Bananas Summer Rains collection on The Mercurial Magpie’s blog, and I had to bite the bullet and purchase a few! Kirby’s swatches were amazing (as usual), and she is totally one of my biggest polish enablers! The polish from the Summer Rains collection I was most excited about is Acid Ocean.

Crazy beautiful right?! Acid Ocean is a deep teal jelly with green-gold shimmer and aqua-green small flakies. It’s so freaking pretty!

Such a complex polish!

Such a complex polish!

In most lighting it looks just like the pictures above, but then it can look almost emerald-teal in darker light or a brighter teal in more bright light.

Brighter, more direct light

Brighter, more direct light

That wasn’t a great picture, but I wanted to show off the brighter teal shift in more direct lighting. Also, as a sidenote – in person, you can’t see the visible nail edge.

I am just loving this polish! What do you think? Do you have any polishes from Indigo Bananas? If not, I highly recommend this one! 😉

Enjoy the weekend everyone!
