Purple mish-mash manicure

Hello my sweeties! It’s Friday! It was a busy week, so this is going to be a quick post today. I don’t know how to succinctly describe today’s mani, so I’m just calling it the purple mish-mash mani. 🙂 It has a little bit o’everything. I started out wanting a gradient manicure, but I decided I wanted to make it a skittlette manicure.

The darker purple is much more purple in real life. My camera wanted to make it blue-toned, but it is definitely warmer than it photographs. My camera must be prejudiced against blurples! They never work well on film for me!

I also wanted to be able to use a fun polish that I bought awhile back that hasn’t seen any love yet. Reverie Bonfire didn’t match as well as I originally thought it would, but it doesn’t clash too badly!

Polishes used:

  • Pinky: OPI Do You Have This Color In Stock-Holm?… this is a warm leaning blurple that is just stunning. It’s a vibrant purple with a perfect formula.
  • Ring finger (and thumb): Reverie Bonfire… this is a deep blue jelly with coppery orange shards/flakes, blue iridescent glitter, and some holo mixed throughout. I used 3 coats to get this opaque, and the formula wasn’t too thick.
  • Index and middle fingers:
    • Base: Formula X Heart-Stopping… this is a perfect light lavender purple creme.
    • Gradient: Heart-Stopping with Stock-Holm
    • Dots in Stock-Holm

What do you think? Do you think it coordinates alright? What accent glitter/ nail art would you have chosen?

Scaled gradient and texture mani

When the weather started getting cold and grey, I had a strong need to brighten up my nails. So I broke out some vivid girly colors to make me happier! As I’ve mentioned before, I’m a big fan of wearing whatever color makes you happy… and this mani certainly did that for me. 🙂

I started out wanting to utilize Zoya Carter (that beautiful PixieDust), and I noticed that there was a nice pink sparkly accent. So my pink & purple color scheme was born! I also decided I wanted to try a scaled gradient again (I tried it in black and white here). Simply Nailogical is the master and creator of scaled gradients, and I hope to one day make mine look as pretty as hers!

Isn’t that gorgeous?! I love the complexity that the texture gives this polish – there’s almost a blackened purple base with purple and pink sparkles. LOVE!

And this polish is another stunner! Ethereal Lacquer Worlds Apart is a bright purple jelly with pinky-red and gold shimmer. So gorgeous!

How I did this mani:

  • Pinky and thumb: Ethereal Lacquer Worlds Apart
  • Ring finger: Zoya Carter
  • Index & Middle finger:
    • Base color: Models Own Shades… a beautiful hot pink/ coral. This baby is opaque in 2 coats!
    • Gradient with MO Shades and OPI Do You Have This Color In Stockholm? I taped it off using nail vinyls, did the gradient at the base of the nail, then top coated it and let it dry. Then I taped it off again with vinyls and did the same gradient on the tip of the nail.

I loved this mani so much!! Do you like it too? Have you tried scaled gradients? What’s your favorite thing to do to your nails to lift your mood in the dreary Winter?

CrowsToes Candied Brains Anyone?: another amazing Halloween glitter

Happy Halloween everyone! What are your plans? I’m going to a friend’s party to hand out candy and imbibe some fun drinks! For this Halloween, I wanted to show you another beautiful CrowsToes glitter topper that’s perfect for the holiday (see VooDoo here). Candied Brains Anyone? was a limited edition polish for October’s A Box Indied. It’s not available anymore, but I was lucky enough to buy it off someone in a Facebook group!

This glitter topper is perfection! There are multi-sized hexes of orange, green, purple, blue, and fuchsia. It would look good over almost any polish, but I used OPI Do You Have This Color In Stockholm? as my base color. The formula was great too – the glitter payoff was amazeballs (this is seriously just one coat!).

Another pic of the beauty!

Another pic of the beauty!

Isn’t this just so pretty?! It’s not a typical Halloween manicure, but it’s colorful and it reminds me of a big bag of different candies. I just plain love it!

Here’s a closeup:

That OPI polish is stunning too! It’s a true blurple – a perfect mix of blue and purple. As you can tell with the above pics, sometimes it leans more one than the other. But it’s sooo pretty!

Anyways, so Happy Halloween! What’s your costume? What’s on your nails?

CrowsToes VooDoo: a perfect Halloween glitter

Happy Friday! Are you into the Halloween spirit yet? I’m slowly getting there. Today I figured I’d show a brand new polish of mine that is PERFECT for the upcoming holiday! CrowsToes nail polish was recently restocked, and I’ve been coveting so many of their beauties. And Dani of From Polish, With Love (my new blogger girl crush!) convinced me I needed to bite the bullet and BUY ALL THE CROWSTOES! So I did 🙂 So anyways, here’s one of my first CrowsToes, VooDoo!

VooDoo over black, blue, and purple

CrowsToes VooDoo over black, blue, and purple undies

First I wanted to see what the perfect undies were, so I tried black (Zoya Raven) on my pinky & index fingers, dark blue (Zoya Ryan) on my middle finger, and purple (OPI Do You Have This Color In Stockholm?) on my ring finger.

A new hand position - yay or nay?

A new hand position – yay or nay?

VooDoo is a gooorgeous glitter topper that has varied sizes of orange, purple, and teal glitter in hexes and shards. Oh, and there’s also some orange bar glitter. I usually despise bar glitter, but it actually looks pretty good in this polish!

So my favorite combo with this topper was actually Zoya Ryan, the beautiful deep navy blue. I thought it was going to be black or purple, but blue definitely won out!

And a closeup:

Just look at that glitter!

All of these swatches just had one coat of VooDoo – there’s amazing glitter payoff! I did some dabbing to even out the application, but it was super easy to get a great look!

So what do you think? Are you pro- or anti-bar glitter? And how do you like my new hand positioning? I’m kind of liking it, but it is awkward in the picture-taking. Also, do you have any CrowsToes favorites? Any must-haves?
