Scattered Dot Mani: December’s NCC#1

December’s Nail Challenge Collaborative theme is Dots! I love a good dotticure, so I was definitely excited about this month’s theme. Then I realized I haven’t done many unique dotted manis in the past, so I really needed to brainstorm to up my game and make this month less boring for y’all!

So for my first dotticure of the month, I knew I wanted a dark base. My nails are shorter than they have been, and if you’ve been following me for a bit you know I love dark polish on nubs! Once I picked out my base color, I basically grabbed a bunch of random colors to work with. I was so glad they ended up working well!

Not quite a typical color combo, but I like how they look all together!  I was kind of going for a gradient look with the dots all scattered towards the base and creeping up the nail in random colors and sizes. Lol, really I was just randomly blobbing on random polishes! Let’s not pretend I had rhyme or reason here!

Polishes used:

  • Base color: Zoya Ryan… a beaaautiful deep navy with hints of teal. This is my absolute favorite dark blue polish!
  • Dotted colors:
    • Julep Eliana… a dark grey-toned navy creme
    • OPI Cajun Shrimp… a gorgeous bright coral-toned red with some hints of pink
    • Julep Saaya… a bright peach with golden shimmer – this looks awful on its own on my skin tone, but it’s nice for nail art!
    • Essie Play Date… a perfect bright purple

So what do you think? Do you like this color combo? What’s an unexpected color combo that you like?

CrowsToes VooDoo: a perfect Halloween glitter

Happy Friday! Are you into the Halloween spirit yet? I’m slowly getting there. Today I figured I’d show a brand new polish of mine that is PERFECT for the upcoming holiday! CrowsToes nail polish was recently restocked, and I’ve been coveting so many of their beauties. And Dani of From Polish, With Love (my new blogger girl crush!) convinced me I needed to bite the bullet and BUY ALL THE CROWSTOES! So I did 🙂 So anyways, here’s one of my first CrowsToes, VooDoo!

First I wanted to see what the perfect undies were, so I tried black (Zoya Raven) on my pinky & index fingers, dark blue (Zoya Ryan) on my middle finger, and purple (OPI Do You Have This Color In Stockholm?) on my ring finger.

A new hand position - yay or nay?

VooDoo is a gooorgeous glitter topper that has varied sizes of orange, purple, and teal glitter in hexes and shards. Oh, and there’s also some orange bar glitter. I usually despise bar glitter, but it actually looks pretty good in this polish!

So my favorite combo with this topper was actually Zoya Ryan, the beautiful deep navy blue. I thought it was going to be black or purple, but blue definitely won out!

And a closeup:

Just look at that glitter!

All of these swatches just had one coat of VooDoo – there’s amazing glitter payoff! I did some dabbing to even out the application, but it was super easy to get a great look!

So what do you think? Are you pro- or anti-bar glitter? And how do you like my new hand positioning? I’m kind of liking it, but it is awkward in the picture-taking. Also, do you have any CrowsToes favorites? Any must-haves?

Beautiful Unicorn Dandruff Manicure

You know when there’s that one polish on your wishlist forever and you’re not quite sure why you haven’t yet made it your own? And then when you do, it’s as amazing as you thought it’d be? For me, that’s Rica’s Unicorn Dandruff. I had it as a pending purchase for over a month, and I finally bought it… let me tell you, I was NOT disappointed!

Unicorn Dandruff in all its glory

I bought Zoya Ryan, and I realized my Unicorn Dandruff (PS – how great is that name??) matched it perfectly along with a gorgeous neon green holo of mine. Zoya Ryan is sooo pretty! It’s a dark navy blue with teal hues – and it barely stains!

So pretty! Just look at that bottle!

So much love! And here’s yet another pic:

Can’t go wrong with The Sacred Tsaheylu!

And that neon green holo! Oof – it’s amazing! It’s another polish in the Superficially Colorful Lacquer’s A Life on Pandora collection, and that collection has yet to treat me wrong. Every single polish is a winner! This green is certainly not an exception!

Closeup of Rica Unicorn Dandruff. Nom nom nom!

Woooow! I just love this glitter topper! It has silver, neon green, and iridescent blue glitter, and has great coverage in just one coat. I just love it so much! Also, please excuse my cuticles on that close-up – as I was pushing back my cuticles, I slipped and took a chunk out by accident… ouch!

So what do you think? Aren’t these polishes beautiful? I was so happy they matched one another so perfectly 🙂

Also, guess who is having their 1 year blogiversary next week? Hint – it’s me! Yay for a whole year of blogging!
